felt the need of a better and safer
method and Bystera, and therefore we
did persistently continue traveling,
Searching, and experimenting in the
midst of innumerable oil derricks, wet
and dry, Bmali and big pumping and
gusher oil wells.
And that, the undersigned discovered
that no instrument or machine or. ma
chines then in use could absolutely be
relied upon to be 100 per cent accurate
at all times. '
And that, the undersigned hereby
positively certify that only within the
last eighteen months have they really
succeeded in discovering and perfect
ing a scientific method for locating oil,
gas and mineral, and scientifically dif
forentlatlng between the one or . the
other.
And that, In literally thousands of
tests made amongst literally thou
sands ot derricks In most of the great
oil fields in America, said method has
proven 100 per cent correct and sci
entifically accurate as to where oil,
ga.9, and minerals could or could not
he discovered in paying auantltles.
And that, the undersigned positively
state that ,they can be taken to any
oil field or oil derrick anywhere in the
world and without any previous know
ledge of the same, correctly tell
whether or not It is on an oil structure,
oil vein, or oil pool, and whether or
not it is at that time a paying oil well
or whether or not it can ever become
a commercial producer.

GEOLOGICAL INDICATIONS OF OIL
That Show the Value of tha Guaranty
Oil Company Drilling Block and How
It was Scientifically Discovered.
To Whom it may concern:
THIS IS TO CERTIFY THAT, The
undersigned by the use of the best
Geological and the scientific methods
elsewhere referred to. have carefully
checked, surveyed. and selected about
100,000 acres of most valuable oil land
In and near Willamette Valley, State
of Oregon.
And that, out of the above-men
tioned oil land a choice 6.000 acre
drilling block In and near Eugene and
Cottage Grove, Lane Co., Ore., nas
been selected and set apart for the
Guaranty Oil Co., of Oregon.
And that. In hundreds of places m
said drilling block, oil and gas seep
ages have been found with such won
derful showings as are rarely found
only In the best oil fields on earth. '
And that, on said drilling block per
fect anticlines, domes, and oil struc
tures are plainly visible...
And that., the finest parafflne oil
shale cropping are in many places
visible from the surface.
And that, many water wells on said
land contain so much oil that the cat
tle refuse to drink the water from the
same.
And that. In several places gas, Is
oozing up out of the ground suffi
cient so that It will burn from the sur
face. And that, In pits for the two wells
now being drilled on said land, cltua
shells, oyster shellB, marine and Mio
cene shells with Ollgocene sea forma
tions have been discovered In large
quantities, showing that even these
highest oil domes were once the ocean
bed and have been pushed up by in
ternal gas pressure, caused by said oil
until these shells have been shoved
to the very top of Bald domes.
And that, as far as we have drilled
the oil well at Eugene, we have passed
through the Ollgocene sea formation,
the marine and Miocene shales . and
shells, the regular oil crystals, the
green and blue oil shale with some
regular copper showings, and have
already passed through 400 feet of par
afflne wax red bed oil shale and have
already pierced four Indicative oil
sands carrying a sufficient amount of
high grade parafflne Petroleum to ab
solutely tell the story that there must
be a great body trml pool of live oil
nearby underneath the same with suf
ficient gas pressure to force so mnch
of it so high up Into said oil dome.
And that, as far as the well has been
drilled at Cottage Grove,' or down to
a depth of about 400 feet, the same
formations and indications have been
encountered; showing that we are on
the same or similar oil formation struc
ture. .
And that. Every formation of every
kind and nature, including the hard
and deep cappings through which we
have passed, all indicate and Kive the
best possible assurance of the certain
ty of Btriklng high grade oil in pay
ing quantities In the very near future,
yes, almost at any unexpected hour.
And that, the general Geological
typography of Willamette Valley, in
closed as it Is between the

Range and the Cascades with Its many
unmentioned Geological earmarks of a
coming oil field are so manifest that
at least thirty oil companies are now
operating or beginning operations in
drilling for oil in the State of Oregon,
most or: which are at work within
these mountain ranges, all of which
have been encouraged and advised by
the best possible Geologists and oeoi-

they thus begun spending such large
sums of njoney.

'Mrs. Carrie Lelberg "of ' Borkeley,
Cal.,: says In a letter of- May 1, 1923:
Mr. Lelberg. my late husband, an au
thority on Geology, always maintained
that Eugene was underlain by a vast
deposit of oil."
In an Oil Report by C. L. Cofer,
Terrestrial Wave Expert of Hooker,
Cjal., says: "From crossing your land
from east to west my wave uoiector
for mineral oil of 42 gravity determines
that there exists' three well defined,
large thick stratas of productive
Gusher Oil sands that will, when
drilled Into, shoot out millions ot bar
rels of liquid wealth ....
Eugene,-Ore., June 14, 1923.

This Is to certify that the under
signed was engaged by E. C. Wilfert
In the capacity of- foreman in excavat
ing for the College Hfll reservoir, and
that during these said excavations we
found about ten feet underground in
said reservoir, numerous varieties of
clam shells, among which we also
found a star-fish.,

Eugene Dally Guard, May 11, 1923
(Roseburg News-Review): "Six months
ago there were but three or four oil
oneratlons under way .. .. .. ac
cording to the statements made by
Geologists who have examined the ter
ritory there are indications that there
is a big deposit of oil whicn. It is ex
pected, will be tapped by the wells now
being drilled." These companies have
all been encouraged by Geologists.
Oregon Dally Emerald of May 8
1923, says: "Signs of Sea Life Found
in .Eugene." Geologists discover relics
of Archaic seas. Definite correlation
of the Eugene sandstone with the
Ollgocene formation.- of Astoria has
been brought about through the dis
covery of an Atm-iu augustuta, a form
of sea life related to the pearly nauti
lus, tn a railroad cut just east of Eugene."
The Sutherlin Sun of April 13, 1923:

D. C. Livingston says: "Oil may
be discovered at any time In Oregon."
Mr. Campbell says: "In my career
of over thirty years as a geologist, I
have examined many provqn oil fields
of the, world. The same geological
conditions existing In. Oregon are pro
ducing oil in other places. Why not
In Oregon?"

ducing wells have been brought In. The
extent of the field also places u as
probably one of the very greatest In
the whole country.'"
A prominent oil expert, and head
driller, who has had twenty-four years
of experience In the oil fields, has stat
ed in a letter written to Dr. David fc-u-gene
Olson, that:-
From what I have - seen ot tne
known oll-bearlng shales and anti
clines and sincllnes, together with the
general topography of the Willamette
Valley, anyone Is amply Justified In
drilling for oil here." 1
In a letter written to David Eugene
Olson, dated June 22, 1923, W. A. Sage,
of San Francisco, an experienced oil
operator, certifies that:
"The lands held under lease Dy tne
Guaranty Oil Company near Eugeno
have been examined by my expert, Mr.
Howard R. Hurlburt, as to their oil con
tents, and he pronounces thorn, In his
opinion, good for very productive
wells, and predicts that the well at
Eugene will come in with over 1000
barrels a day ot the very highest grav
ity of oil."
Robert F.' Campbell, Geologist and
a graduate from the best American
technical schools and bIbo from the
mineralogy and paleontology, and ge
ology at Edinburgh University, with
thirty-two years' experience in the oil
fields in a letter dated Sept. 1, 1923,
declares:
"Oregon Is fortunate In more ways
than one by reason of activities at Eu
gene. I might write a lengthy techni
cal report as to the period of time In
which the uplift 'occurred, name the
different formations exposed, tell of
the different kinds of petroleum struc
tures, and enter Into the study of pale
ontology, and give tne analysis or me
different sands exposed. I might class
ify the foBSll life, and determine the
age. But BUffice It to- say that the
formations which have already been
drilled through show the possibilities
for the discovery of oil In Oregon."
We also have in our possession
maps Issued by the Geological Depart
ment of Washington. D. C. where
these domes, anticlines, sincllnes,
monoclines, and quadrangles, and
geological structures can be clearly
seen, thus scientifically mapped out
and outlined. We are not therefore
surprised that the Geological report Is
sued in 1895-98 revisen -in iau, ne-

disposal thereof by the Corporation

to sell the remaining 2.000 shares at
$100 a share, par value for cash, or Its
equivalent In good notes, payable with
in ninety days.
And that, said W. A. Sage and OlBon
Bros, have placed upon said certifi
cates a written and signed guarantee
which binds all their assets, resources
and estates, which should, from a con
servative estimate, be worth at least
$1,000,000.00; to within two years from
the date of said certificate or certifi
cates, refund to any holder of. said
Guaranty Oil Co. Btock shares certifi
cates, the total amount of Investment
represented by the same, with eight
per cent Interest from the date of said
certificates. If for any reason the hold
er thereof should not within said time
be satisfied with snid Investment.

foot mark.
Fourth: Larger drilling equipment
lias recently been purchased as noces

enable the drillers to, from now oil,
proceed with great rapidity.

certificate holders have been enlisted
as friends and real helpers who have

above operations and equipment.

over 50.000 acres of leases In the State
of Oregon, which with what interest
they have In the Ouaranty Oil Com
pany of Oregon, should with, the dis
covery of oil In tills state, be worth

And that, said land and Interests as
above referred to have every opportun
itv to within the very near future be
come worth more millions than what
It Is possible for those to realize who
have not had experience with the rap
id development and increase In values
of valuable oil land, leases and nom
ines. And that, all of said resources and
assets are. In the certificates now he
