Sinclair, on trial Lewis county superior court on charge of rendering a false statement as to the conditions of the defunct Southwestern Washington bank at Ilwaco of which he was president, to day took the stand to testify in his own behalf. He admitted signing the alleged false statement' June 30, 1923, but said "I did not read It over and did not know it was false. Mrs. Ernest Ballon, who Is suing Mrs. Lelund Sterry, widow of a Palm Deach hotel proprietor' for 50,000, charging alienation of her husband's affections, is expected to resume tho witness stand today at the trial here. She tes tified yesterday as to changes In her husband's habits after he became Mrs. Sterry's chauffeur. She said he never drank nor smoked and always camo home until May, 1922, when he began staying out late. She found his paja- inus in the Sterry garage, she said; scented Mrs. Sterry's perfume on his clothing and heard him, awake and asleep, talk ot "his Sterry."
