Last night tho secretary of tho Master numbers' association notified the journeymen that the tnnstcr plumb ers would agree to arbitration by a local board if' the plumbers would re turn to work spending a settlement at the present wage scaro, any Increase allowed by the arbitrators to be retro active to January 1. On' that basis the Journeymen returned to their Jobs tills morning. At a special meeting of the master plumbers this morning it was decided that tho secretary had oxceeded his authority in making the settlement of fer and refused to ratify the tentative ngroemont. The change was made In order to Improve sanitary and health condi tions and decrease the fire hazard in the city, and had been discussed for months previously by tho mayor and councilmen. It is estimated that the fees taken in for both plumbing and electrical installation will amount to $2000 or over a year ample to pro vide for proper Inspection by the city, and pay for same, which will probably be in the hands of one man to be chosen later. Under the new ordinance the license fee charged each electrical contractor will be $50 for tho first year and $25 annually after that. Tho fee for electrical inspection is 10 cents for tho first five lights installed, five cents each for each additional light, and other wiring construction higher but in proportion. The plumbing fees will be as fol lows: Fifty dollars for each plumber the first year and $25 annually there after; for each fixture installed twenty-five cents up to and including five; IB cents for all fixtures above five installed, and ten cents for each addi tional one after that. The fees outside of those charged the plumbers and electrical contrac tors will all bo charged to tho home or place of business having the work Installed. The council also disposed of much routine business last night. The con tract providing for the leasing of tho city autp camp to the Merrick Motor Inn, Is not yet ready In all Its details, and honco the ordinance completing this deal went over to the next council meeting. .
