Market speculators who have grown grey at, the task of trying to grow wealthy In Wall street today studied the system reputed to have mado the fortune 'oC Lieutenant Osborne C. Wood, son of Governor General Leonard Wood of the Philippines, who is reported to have accumulated between. $700,000 and $800,000 by cable speculation from Manila to the street. Commenting on the declaration yes terday of a financial "tipster" ser vice head that Wood had acted on nightly cablegrams sent to him nnd for whleh he was snid to 'have paid $10,000 a month, Including cable tolls, speculators said the young of ficer had demonstrated the truth of t the theory that long range Bhots are the best. Every day, it was declared by the "tipster," a cablegram analyzing tho -f state of tho stock market 'Was sent to young Wood. In addition, spcclnl ad vice to buy or sell and answers to re quests for Information were sent, all in plain English and not in code. Tolls ranged from a few dollars to $80 a day. The last message from Wood was said to have been sent December 19, and it was believed It was on that day that Secretary of War Weeks di rected that the young officer's opera- . tlons should cease. Tn Cleveland's new $6,500,000 municipal auditorium, scene of tho republican national convention of 1924, Ohio po litical leaders are confident that the general facilities aro entirely adequate to meet the situation and that the building will be found a worthy back ground In tho naming of the party's presidential nominee. Hotel accommodations nnd other space necessary in handling a national convention likewise are declared suf ficient while the various civic organi zations and commercial Institutions of the city have no doubt about the rais ing of a huge chest fund to carry on the enterprise. Mayor Fred Kohler offered the use of the auditorium free ot charge to either major party's na tional convention. It was Cleveland's first bid for a national convention of the two big parties. Situated in the heart of the down town section, the new public hall is said to present all that could be docir ed for a large convention.
