C. Boggs as temporary justice of nnd rest up until Wednesday morn lg.- Outside of registered mail 118 sacks of Christmas parcels and other mail nrrlvfcd during Sunday, about the same number of sacks arrived during Saturday, and a still larger quantity arrived during Friday, while heavy (Itiantities had been arriving all week. The entire postofflce stuff haB been working from 16, 18 to 20 hours daily for almost a week, and if necessary will work all night and tomorrow to get all the Christmas stuff delivered. Three auto trucks fully manned with workers labored Sunday getting I mail delivered, and today these trucks with additional ones and workers were busy on the same errand. Today several rural delivery carriers of the postofflce were also pressed into ser vice to help out with city deliveries, and other additional men were also engaged in this work. Postmaster Warner and his eon Gordon even labored on one of the delivery trucks. Assistant Postmaster Cliff Beckett with other help hns been working ufitil midnight daily .in receiving and sorting mall. ' ' The local American Express office nlco reports having had its biggest known business here, but expected to have all Christmas parcels delivered by tomorrow noon. ; Mayor E. C. Gaddis, after ponder ing long, while he smoked several Christmas cigars last night and this forenoon, thought of a suitable ap pointment for temporary judge of the city court. Finally the Idea hit him bard, simultaneously with the resolve to smoke no more Christmas present cigars, to appoint himself to the job, This idea made a hit with him the longer he thought It over, hence the Introduction of Judge Gaddis, who will sit on the case of a drunk arrested last night, some time this afternoon, unless the accused man is able to stand. He Is otherwise likely to find himself telling the judge how he happened to forget ordering the 1924 plates.
