First $100,000 of
Million Highway
Bonds Are Paid
Tho first $100,000 or the million dol
lar bond Issue of Jackson county roads
was paid November 1st, when due, by
the county treasurer, and the redeem
ed bonds, have been returned cancel
led by the National Park bank of New
York City, the fiscal agency of the
county, in the handling of the bonds.
The next hatch of bonds tor $100,000
Is due November 1,, 1928, and every
five years thereafter until paid In full.
OBITUARY
EVANS James 8. Kvans passed
away at his homo three miles west
of Phoenix at 1 p. m. yesterday. Mr.
Evans was born in Indiana, May 10,
1854, aged 69 years, 7 months, 8 days.
The family had resided In their pres
ent location but a few weeks, they hav
ing come to Rogue river valley from
Ontario, Ore., and Bottled on the farm
west of Phoenix. Ho loaves besides
his wife, one son, William P.- Evans,
who resided with his parents. '
Funeral arrangements In care of the

from Rev. 11. E. Haker of Cottouwood,
Calif., who will have charge of the
service.
