Of these six congressional contests, ono in Illinois and two In New York state, were districts hopelessly democratic. One New York district and Vermont dls trict are normally republican. "The one district in which there was a real contest was the 24th New York, embracing part of New York City and Westchester county. The democrats carried this district in 1918 bylOOO and again In 1922 by 3400 They confidently expected to carry It this year.
