Tho Chamber of Commerce held a forum luncheon at tho Hotel Ashland Tuesday noon. The honor ffueHt for tho luncheon was Itev. C. V. Koehler who will leave for Spokane the first of next month. Mr. Koehler has re sided in Ashland for the past five years and has always been a loyal supporter of the Chamber of Com merce, who extended him their best wishes for succcsh and happinesa in IiIh new home. OF C. Some time ago the Medford cham ber of commerce sent a quantity of Hose pears to the Portland chamber of commerce und these "wore served at the forum luncheon on the 15th of October. One pear and a leaflet, giv ing factsl and figures regarding this particular pear, were placed at each plato and many of tho five hundred who attended tho forum got their first laHto of this delicious fruit. Ed Andrews, CharleH Hazclrigg, Tom Swem and several other Medford residents attended, this particular forum. They reported that tho pears njude a hit and that Medford received some extraordinary publicity there from. Tho chairman of the forum called particular attention to tho fact that tho pears wero donated by the citizens of Medford. On one side of the leaflet which tho chamber prepared gave a very Inter esting and instructive hlHtary of the origin of tho Uosc pear. This was contributed by F. C. Itolmer of the Southern Oregon Experiment station Tho other side contained facts in re gard to the Bosc pear and Its relation to tho Rogue Itlver valley. The out standing featuro of the latter was a statement taken from the report of the U. S. Department of Agriculture that eighty-five per cont of the Bosc pears marketed in tho United States are grown in the Medford district of tho Koguo Kiver valley. Copies of these circulars may bo secured from tho local chamber. The pears were donated to the chamber of commerce by the Earl Fruit Co., Guy W, Connpr, .Stewart Fruit ' Co., Dennis, Kimball & Popo and Sgobel & Day. ' ZEV DEPARTS FOR .
