Mr. and Mrs. Clay Wilson of Kel logg, Idaho are spending this week at the borne of their brother, Mr. and Mrs. Vivian Wilson. Mr. and Mrs. C. H. O'Neil and Fred Wright were In Jacksonville Tuesday in interest of the great imperial con vention of the Dokies that is to be held in Portland in August. rMrs. R. C. Woodcock of San Fran cisco is visiting at the home of Mrs. John Busby. Dave Courtney and A. M. McKee of Watklns passed through town Wed nesday enroute home from Medford Where they were transacting business. Mr, and Mrs. Wm. Eaton and Mrs. Ruby Fox were business, visitors in Medford Tuesday. THe Jacksonville high school will give their annual high, school play, "Nothing But the Truth," Friday even ing at 8 o'clock at the high school building. J. E. Brown and H. H Howard of Klamath Falls enroute from Klamath Falls to Portland are spending a few days at the Hodson home in our city. Mrs. Rena' Eaton and Mrs. George Armstrong W ise dinner guests Thurs day at the home of Mrs. Wm. Eaton. Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Beasley who have resided In our city for the past two years, left last week for Lodi, Calif., where they will make their future home. Mrs. W. E. Johnson of Forest Grove visited Mrs. Barbara Reter recently. Mr. and Mrs. George Eckelson of Lakeview, Ore., are guests of Mr. and Mrs. Hodson enroute to Portland, Ore. Miss Anna Neidermeyer, Miss Nel lie Hake, Mr. Chester Wendt and Mr. Otto Neidermeyer motored to Oakland Ore., on Thursday where Mlsa Neider meyer and Mr. Wendt were united in marriage by Rev. J. K. Howard. The happy newlyweds motored on to Port land and Miss Hake and Mr. Neider meyer returned to this city by train. A dancing party was given at the home of Mr. and Mrs. McCabe in honor of Miss Edna Jones who leaves soon with her parents. About forty were present and a midnight supper was enjoyed by all. - Mrs. Young of Rosoburg has boon visiting her daughter, Mrs. Martin of this city for the past weok and return ed to her home Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. W. Craig of Portland and1 Mrs. Maosdam and Mrs. Don Piatt visited Mrs. Frances Wilson and daughter Grace "Wednesday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Weeks and family are spending a fe wdays with relatives at the Lydlard home. They are on their way to San Francisco to embark for the Philippine Islands, where Col. Weeks, who is attached to the United States engineering corps, will spend the next two years. G. P. Hall writes from Sacramento that business 1b booming down there with plenty of work and good wages. He intimates, however, that he would like to get back to this valley long enough to try out a new fishing out fit. Carl and Vaughn Quackenbush re turned last Saturday from Weed, Cal., where they were employed in the lumber mills. The boys were not satisfied with conditions generally down there and will probably remain in the valley. The Table Rock school will close this week with a program and bon fire Friday night, in charge of the Parent-Teachers club, which have se cured the "Craters" of Medford to as sist with tho entertainment. J. L. Nealon Is having the house on the Miller place wired for electric service, which will be installed in a few days by tho aClifornia Oregon Power company. i Mr. NIcewood and wife, part own ers with Mr. Croft in the ranch pur chased last spring from Lorn Grog- ory, spent Saturday night and part of Sunday here looking over their prop erty, returning Sunday evening to the Willamette valley, where Mr. Nice wood is employed by the telephone company. They w-ere well pleased with the prospects here and claimed they. never passed anything that look ed ns good on the trip down. Charley McCarthy is suffering with a badly bruised foot, the result of being caught on the underside of his horse when It fel with him. A crew of men are at work clearing the right of way for the new road and It is expected that the grading crews will be here next week. From different parts of the valley we hear reports predicting a shbrt crop of alfalfa in non-irrigating sec tions, where the dry weather, which has not yot retarded growth will be felt during the growing of the second and third crops. Sheep owners are having their sheep dipped and inspected prior to taking them to tho Bummer range In the mountains. A truck load of hogs that had been ready for market for some time was finally disposed of and taken into Medford last! Wednesday by Lorn Gregory, our enterprising truck man. Last Monday evening the neigh bors gathered at tho Lydiard home and listened to an Instructive and very interesting talk on the Muscle Shoals project by Col. W. C. Weeks of the U. S. engineering corps who has just Bpent some two years in charge of construction work at the Wilson dam. The colonel used many maps, blue prints and photographs in givl.ig his talk, making it very plain to his audience, many of whom for the first time grasped the magnitude of tho gigantic undertaking. . After listening to this talk and tho reasons given for the objections to the Ford offer to purchase the project, many were heard to express themselves as to having changed their minds in re gard to the matter. Following the lecture and in keeping with the hos pitality of the Lydlard home, refresh ments were served, making it alto gether a very pleasant and interest ing evening.
