WATER SITUATION IS by Tho city water commission at Its meeting held last night ordered the summer water restrictions to go'lnfo effect tomorrow. This action was taken because since the present warm spell began the general irrigating ot lawns and gardens proved such a drain on the water supply that the pressure was greatly reduced in parts of the city. The action was greatly influenced also by the fact that due to Medrord's growth and the many new homes erected within the city during tho past 12 months, necessitating the establishment of so many new tnps, much more wntor will be consumed In Medford this summer whereas the supply will not be Increased. A number of citizens labor under the delusion that the building of an additional reservoir will furnish the city more of a water supply. The new reservoir, which will not ho ready for use for some time yet, is simply n reinforcement of the present: reser voir, to be used in emergency or in case something should happen to the present one. The city water board is giving much time in study of tho water question with a view to adopt ing plans for an additional or in creased supply, but the presont supply cannot be Increased this summer. . The new water regulations divide the city Into districts for Irrigating at stipulated times, the same as last year but require two hours less dully irri gating on irrigation days than hereto fore. The irrigating hours now are front 4 a. m. to 10 a. m. instead of from 4 a. m. to 11 a. m., us last year, and from 4 p. m. until 10 p.m. Instead of 4 p. m. to 11 P. in., ns lust year.
