entire United States In search of a
suitable location for life home, which

the following article regarding a well
known former local citizen: "Geo.
Llndley, vice president of the Amer
ican National bank, has made friends
with the pelicans around Ling river
bridge, and each morning he feeds
them a handful of table scraps. This
morning, however, the pelicans were
far down the lake, and the mudhena
started to gobble the feed. But a huge
fish, apparently a trout, came to the
surface with a slash, snatched a tidbit
and disappeared, frightening the mud-
hens away. Now Llndley feels that
he bad added a fish to his list of river
friends."

Lt. R. L, Mnughan, who It Is an
nounced will attempt a non-stop trans
continental flight from dawn until
dark on June 21, was a medford visi
tor Beveral months ago. He landed at
Barber Field and was Joined the next
day by Lt W. C. Goldsborough. The
two! continued by air northward.
Maughan fell In the Willamette river
at Eugene wrecking his plane and
escaping uninjured. Fog was an
nounced ns the cause of the accident.
Maughan is the holder ot the world's
speed record for a dlBtanco of one
kilometer, having traveled that dis
tance nt a rate of 236 miles per hour.
He also took the Pulitzer trophy at
the air derby at Mt. Clemens, Michi
gan, last year.
