OTRAXGE! There has been considerable, newg about this semi- royal marriage in London today, but no strew has been laid tipon the fact that it is a love match. Doubly strange for royal weddings are always love matches to the press agents. There hasn't been a royal wedding in the last two hundred years that hasn't been heralded in the press as a love match. Perhaps that is because they never were. ' And perhaps silence regarding this wedding is due to the fact that it obviously is. AVe know nothing about this romantic affair, wh'ieh is absorbing the interest of the British Empire today, but that is no reason why tve should not wager a box of cigars against a million roubles' that these two young people are marrying each other today for the very good and sufficient reason that they are crazy about each other, . ; Certainly that must be the reason for the Duke of York marrying a "commoner." He must have been in a position to pick and choose. And the fact is established that he proposed at least three times before he won her. This will mean permanent enikloyment for labor, permanent lo cution for capital in lumbering and permanent communities in and near the national forests. Aa a result of the failure to pro tect the forest lands, there are in .Michigan today deserted towns, aban doned mills and millions of acres of idle burnt-over land which has re verted to the' state for non-payment of taxes. The permunence of the lumber Industry and the continued prosperity .of 'the forest regionB of this .state depend largely upon the prevention of forest fires. Reports from various sections of southwest Wash ington today Indicated that the strike called by the I. W. W. In the lumber camps has Bpread. Approximately twice as many men are. out today as had quite work yesterday. Logging operators, however, express the gen eral opinion that the strike has reach ed its crest and that all the men have quit work who intend doing so. The strike came as a surprise. The 1. W. W. in this district had origin ally planned to call the strike on May 2, but the date was changed, accord ing to circulars In the .hands of the authorities, In order to take the lum ber Industry by surprise. " A nnmber of camps have been closed by the strike, and today It was Indicated that approximately 8, 000 men in this district are off their jobs. FIST FIGHT ENDS E PORTLAND, Ore., ' April ' 26.-A fist fight between two attorneys marked the closing here today of the hearing before Examiner W. W. Bheppard of the federal trade com mission of charges of conspiracy in restraint of trmlo against the Doug- las Fir Exploitation and Export com pany. J. B. Carter of San Francisco, at torney representing one of the re spondents in the case, led out with a punrh nt the head of Henry W. Beer, government counsel, and Beer landed back at his antagonist. The clash came us the climax of feeling between counsel on both sides which had been displayed at various times during the oust week of the hearing here. Carter's ire was arous ed by remarks which Beer had made this- morning. Bystanders separated the two attorneys, who apologised to Bheppard.
