Vanity Fair, Page
The .famous characters of Thack
eray's novel, "Vanity Fair," live again
upon the screen In Hugo Ballln's plc
turlzatlon of that great book at tho
Page theatre today. ......
While there are several spectacular
scenes in tho picture such as the ball
in Brussels on the eve of the battle of
Waterloo and glimpses of the historic
battle itself Mr. Ballln has stressed
the human, appealing side of Thack
eray's famous story. Jt Is the llfe
llkeness of the characters, tho en
grossing and dramatic story which Is
told, that makes this production rank
among the biggest things the filim
have to their credit.
Mahel Ballln adds io her artistic
stature by her performance of the
pert, designing Becky Sharp a truly
fine impersonation. . .
