(By the Asso ciated Press) An American demand for absolute priority on German rep arations to pay the costs of the Amer ica narmy of occupation on the Rhine was continuing today to deadlock the conference here over this question, it was stated in well informed quarters. Eliot Wadsworth, assistant secre tary of the treasury, representing the United States, was awaiting a call for another conference session from the representatives of the allies, who meanwhile were awaiting instruc tions from their governments. Mr. Wadsworth declared there was no warrant for the statement that the conference had broken up. The allied delegates assert that if absolute priority were given the United States the first effort would be to block German shipments of coal to Italy and also to force the British government to pay the costs of its army on the Rhino or else withdraw it.
