Men with scratched faces wore being sought by police ns the murderers of tho two young women found hacked to death on on unfrequented road near the Statcn Island horo yesterday. Po lle found evidence of a frantic struggle for life by the two women, Mrs, Irene Rianrflno of Jersey City and Mrs. Bessie MuMuhon of Ullca, n..'y. The theory that the blackhand may be involved in the murders was ad vanced after police learned that Mrs. Bliindlno'a Jlrnt husband, Frank Bonglrant, had boen killed by a man who had lived with the woman be fore she met Bongtranl. That killing the. police think, was actuated by ro Vonge. ' While pursuing this theory the Jer sey City police were holding as ma terial witnesses Blandino and Ito snrio di Lorenzo, an employe in the former's barber shop, who had not satisfied , the police with accounts of their movements the night of the murder. ; - , ' her son, who resides near Wlmcr. Linn, our achool clerk. was introduced and gnvo tin a short talk on tho subject of having a union high school here, showing on n map ho exhibited how our. district Is sur rounded by sumo nine districts that could be brought Into tho union high school, Increasing tho valuation of tho property to near a million dollars worth of taxable property o thnt, in stead of this district turning over to Medford high school some threo thousand dollars per year thnt money could be used to pay teachers, buy tho necessary equipment for our high school. Ho also spoke of an other decided advantage there will bo to have the children kopt from the temptations thero Is In n city like Medford to havo them "play hooky" slid lite parents cannot tell what kind of company they are In. making a strong plea for a .union high school here on the ground of encouraging protection of morals and the general welfare of the entire community.
