The citizens of the town of Rogue
River conducted a spring clean-up
this afternoon. The business houses,
closed and the school children were
dismissed to allow all to participate, in
the drive against unsightly places

The first Chinook salmon to bo cx
hiblted In the city this spring was
brought In today by Klmer llrlggs,
who caught the big fellow below the
dam. Tho salmon weighed 'M pounds
and is Hie first to be caught. It was
reported enrlier that several Clilnooks
hud been taken but it Is believed thut
those were large steelheads, of which
there were many of extraordinary
size. The salmon was caught on a

day evening In Justice Taylor's court
after tostimony of A. C. Martin, who
alleged that he had been robbed by

him. had been contradicted by the tie
fendent. The evidence of the net hav
ing been committed was not strong
enough to warrant the binding over of
tho dofendant to tho grand Jury for
further Investigation.
