ing his audience in qiuny ways with
his sleight-of-hand tricks.
This courso was a flnuncial suc
cess hs well over fifty dollars wero
denned for the school annual. This
coming winter anothur course will be
presented. This one will be of five
numbers, that will be given closer to
gether than they were this time. If
thoy provo to be ns entertaining as
tho luHt wero, they will be well worth
the price. Boason tickets will be sold
aguln, no doubt by the high school
students.
Tho Central 'Ladies' Aid gave a ta
malo supper at Mr. Al Musty's lunch
room today from two till evening.
Tho tamales were all home made and
very good.
Tho local high school gave a party

hall. The sophmore class did the
entertaining of tho other classes. A
short skit was prcsentod by . this
clnss, ha.ving four characters with
Glenn La liarre, Marguerite Gardner.
Alico Kcabruok. it proved to be very
entertaining. Games of various kinds
wero played, flashlight pictures taken
and music. All present were dressed

ed prizes for their clever make-up.
The attendance was very good, as
most all of the high school students
were presont to enjoy tho evening

riety were served at a rather late
hour. Valentines wero exchanged
among the students.
Mr. Theodore Glass of this city,
had tho misfortune of overturning his
Velio, car near the Modoc orchards.
None of the occupnnts of the automo-
hile were injured, but the car was
damaged seriously. Mr. Joe Adams
of San Diego, California Is in this
city visiting her sister, Mrs. F. "W.,
Sea.brean, for a 'short time.
Mr. and Mrs. Guyp of Groat Falls
arrived in this city recently to visit
Mrs. Guyps' parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Duncan. Their two children also ac
companied thorn hero.
Mr. Oscar .Lewis, former well
known clerk In U. P. Thluse's store.
has now opened up an establishment
of his own In Jacksonville. While
hero he always gave service with a
smtlo, nnd was well liked by all. No
doubt ho will meet success in Jack
sonville, as is hoped by all of his
friends hero.

In Central Point. The latest young
man to launch li ship on the sea of
matrimony was Mr. Thomas Grigsby
as captain with Miss Franklin of
RoHoburg as mate. Mr. Grigsby has
been a resident of this community
for several years. Always .appear
ing to ho sincere in all of his pur
suits, always friendly. Miss Franklin
is well known in Roseburg. her
mother is at present a bookkeeper In
a Jewelry store there nnd her father
a president of a firm. Tho couple
were married Kumlay afternoon by
the Reverend Rcattio nt about five
o'clock. Twenty to twonty-fivo friends
wero present to witness the ceremony.
Supper was served nt six to all. Mr.
and Mrs. Grlgsby's plnns aro not
formed ns yet. but are intending to
go to llutte Kails In the near future.
They are at present slaying at tho
homo of Mr. Grlgsby's parents. They
were duly chlvareed Tuesday evening
by the younger portion of tho city.
