I noticed one place where It bud slipped off that tlie wheel on the back end of the tender cut right thru the ties, shaving the ends off just as smooth as tho they had been cut off with an nxo, and there was one place whore evorythlng like ties was pushed from under tho rails for a mince of four or five feet, but Ihey finally got over the space, n'lmut thirty feet and started on- for Butte Fulls and I heard one of tho railroad men say that they would likely get off the track again in the next two miles. The, ties are so. rotten tlmt If thoy are on a curve the spikes are drawn out and the mils are spread and tho result) is another wreck. Fortunately there was no spe cial damuge done. It appears that the trouble is that they cannot get tics to repair tlie old road, at least that is the reason the men give for not fixing the roud and making it safe to run on. Another difficulty they labor undor is' the heavy rains we have had this win ter has made the ground so soft that that causes the rails to give way with but little trouble.
