First Company has Installed a bulle tin board at Armory headquarters, on which Is recorded not only the names of the military organizations center ing, but also the respective officers non-residents of this locality. Pub licly displayed In the lobby, this list affords Information locally and Is very Interesting In a general way historic ally. Inasmuch as it Is a vivid re minder of the Indian and Civil Wars, the 8panlBh-Aniorlcan episode, and the great world debacle. Supplementing these records the local military com pany will install a trophy case In which to display Its prizes and variouB Interesting relics. Improvements at Armory headquarters are continually being made, adding both to military equipment and providing conveni ences for the rank and file. Trinity Guild is expanding by the addition or a Junior unit to Its ranks, Its officers including Mrs. Rose Robin ette, president; Mrs. Fern Flnnernan, vice president; Agnes Hedberg, secre tary, and Mrs. Lorena Mc.Vair, treas urer. The parent Guild's officers are Mrs. Harriet LIttlechild, president; Mrs. Fanny Bevington, vice president; Mrs. Sarah f Hedberg, secretary and Mrs. Grace Winnie, treasurer. At a recent luncheon given In the parlb house, Mrs. Emily Hammond being the hostess, tho proposition of organ izing the auxiliary guild was sug gested, the response, being unanim ous In favor of the project, with the result that the junior unit was per fected on tho spot. A reception In honor of now students Is being planned, the opening of the winter term on Monday witnessing nearly CO new additions at the high school building alone, of which about 30 are new members of the fresh man class, and a dozen or more are students from adjacent localities who are beginning tho high school course. The zoo annex to Xinlnger k War ner's pool halls has been reinforced of -late by an exhibit of a huge beaver, trapped in the vicinity of the Modoc orchards, bordering Rogue River. Jock Beagle, in government employ, caught the animal direct on Its reservation, which area seems to be stocked plen tifully with specimens of the busy beaver. , The local chapter, 0. A. II., have under1 contemplation a project of in viting the state organization to meet in, Ashland In 1924, the Invitation to be extended at the annual session of the- Oregon body this year. The musical event was the appearance of the Chicago Orchestral club, the final lyceum entertainment ot the season under American Legion auspices. The minstrel show last week, given by First Company and high school band talent, was a big success both financially add from the viewpoint of artistic excelence. There was a large cast taking part In the interesting per formance, and the returns In coin of the realm was gratifying. Chester MacCracken and Jim Por ter, local boys attending the State Agricultural college, havo been ap pointed cadet majors In the military department, specifically under It O. T. C. assignments which are held dur ing the current year at this school. A special athletic edition of the Rogue News, dealing more particu larly with football, will be Issued on Friday of this week, the text to be supplemented by Illustrations depict ing foremost players on the local high school team. This special isauo will be a fine one, as portraying the activi ties of Ashland high school athletes in general.
