follows: "The change in administra
tion In the state corporation depart
inent will bo made effective Wednes
day, according to W. K. Crews, the
appointee of Governor Pierce, who re
turned to Salem this afternoon after
getting his business affairs at Medford

Tho condition of Jack Corey local
frultmiin who has been in Sacred
Heart hospital for the last two weeks,

INGRAM Lo Roy Ingram, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Pete Ingram died at
tho family home, 324 West Fourth
street, January 23, of bronchial pneu
monia, aged 20 years, 5 days. Born
near Jacksonville, Ore., Jan. 18,
1903. Had been a student of the
Jackson Btroet school. Ho was n
member of the Woodmen of the
World, lie leaves his parents and
one brother, Ermej. The. funeral
services will be held nt tho Perl Fu
norul home, Thursday at 2 p. m., C.

CONLEY Jacob Conley died at
tho home of his daughter Mrs. L. B.
Tucker, four miles south of Ashland,
Ore., Jan. 22, from infirmities due
to old age. Aged 90 years, 9 months
and 7 dnys. Born In Clay county in
lllnols, April 15th, 1839, where he
spent his youth and in 1851 crossed
the plains with ox teams to Califor
nia und lived thero through the gold
rush. October 2, 1863, was married
to Rebecca Childers and to this union
there were born 1 4 children, seven
lions and seven daughters, ten of
whom aro living today. In 1S63 he
moved to Jackson (iounty, , where he
homcsteaded' his present' farm in
Sams Valley. He -leaves five sons
and five daughters to mourn his loss
besides a host of friends: Mrs. J. C.
Neal, Pendleton, Ore., Mrs. E. P.
Knnpp, Central Point, Ore.; Mrs. J.
It. Vincent, Medford, Ore.; Mrs. 1.

Joseph Martin, an oil worker, 40
years . aid, today shot his divorced
wife, ilary Martin, 25 years old, per
haps fatally. He then attempted to
draR the woman onto tho rnlloond
tracks and when stopped by Town
Marshal' Charles Palmer, fired three
shots at the marshul. Martin then
killed himself with a bullet' through
his head.
The Martins were divorced a month
