The fire nUrm at 5:30 this morn ing was the result of a fire in the rear of Dan's restaurant on the cor nor of Firm and Main streets. The blaze which did little damago, start ed from the gas' water heater which Ignited some towels hanging above It. The fire went down between the partitions of the wall and blazed up again after the fire department had left, and they were called a second time. Dan was quite Incensed when tell ing of the fire this morning and stated that after having extinguished tho last embers of the blaze Chief awton came to him and asked blm why he had called a second time, say ing that there were plenty of buckets there and that he had plenty of water with which ho could put out the fire himself. . A flue fire at the Kellehor resi dence on South Oakdale called out the fire department at three o'clock yesterday afternoon.' The fire did practically no damage. OIL EXPLOSION FAILS TO HAPPEN WASHINGTON, Jan. 22.-t-Exam limtlon of Harry F. Sinclair was con eluded today by the senate oil inves tigating committee without renewal of the clash between the witness nnd the committee which last week re sulted In senate subpoenas for books nnd records of one of, the Sinclair companios, the Hyva corporation. Chairman LaFolletto, who clashed with the witness lnst week, took lit tle part in the questioning of the oil man. The interrogations had to do al most entirely with tho dispositions through the Hyva corporation, a Sin clair owned investment company, of stock of the Mammoth Oil company, the concern operating the lease to tho Teapot 'Dome naval oil reserve ob tained from the government bv Mr. Sinclair.
