Hunt ley, collector of internal revenue, to day began mulling to Oregon taxpay ers forms for filing Indiviilual returns of net income of $500 or leaa for the year 1922. The form is In six pages, I two of which provide for the return, ! two for making a duplicate and two pages devoted to instructions. Dupli cate and Instruction pages should be detached and retained by the taxpayer and the original return mailed to the collector. Tho forms are being mailed to all taxpayers who made similar re turns for 1521. Forms for filing re turns on incomes in excess of f 50)0 . will be mailod soon. Harried persons whose net income Js $5000 or less are allowed an exemp tion of $2500 and for married persons whose net Income is in excess of $5000 an exemption of $2000 is allowed. Single Man Unlucky Tho exemption for single persons is $1000. Whether married or single the taxpayer is allowed an exemption of $400 for each dependent upon him for chief support, if such dependent is (under 18 years of age or Incapable of selfsupport. The requirement to file a return is "' placed upon every married person ywhose net- income for 1922 was $2000 tr jjiore,, whose .gross income . wiia 5000 or more, and upan every single - ,i person whose net income was $1000 .or more or whose gross Income was $3000 or more. DECEMBER RAINFALL WORD. 5,35 IN. Medford and vicinity is certainly getting fed up on continuous rain lately and the present spell of wet ness apparently is not over as rain Is the prediction for tonight and Wed nesday: Rain fell in torrents last Saturday night and by 8 a. m. Sunday the pre- ous 2 4 hours' quantity measured 4 of an inch, most of which fell during the night, flooding tho side walks nnd Btreets and forming lakes ot soino street intersections and .all low lying points. Since Sept. 1st last, up to this morning the rainfall In Medford arfd vicinity has amounted to S.SS inches. In December alone there was 5.35 . inches of rain here, tho greatest j quantity which had fullen In Medford In that month since 1907, when it totalled 9.58 Inches. V L Tho open house and dinner of the Elks lodge, hold at the Elks temple yesterday, was one of the most pleas ant and largest attended in the his tory of the lodge. Over COO Elks and their ladles attended. The afternoon was spent in enjoying a vaudeville program, dancing In tho club rooms' and other social diversions, Tho big new year's dinner was . served in the basement from 5 to 8 p. m., which was prettily decorated for tho occasion. Three hundred persons were seated at the first tables, after which the tables were again pre pared and tho many others served. Dancing began in the lodge room at 8:30 which continued for hours and it was not until 2 a. tn., that tho danc ing was discontinued. SPEAKER AT FORUM Mr. Irving Vining of Ashland will speak on the "Oregon Development Program" at tho Medford chamber of commerce forum luncheon tomorrow noon at the Medford hotel. .
