Stocks NEW YORK, Dec. 30. Virtually all groups of stocks moved to higher levels in today's brief session of the market, tho last of the year. Wide spread predictions of business pros perity during the coming year and Secretary Hughes' suggestion of an International conference of financiers '0 settle the reparations problem had a cheerful effect on sentiment, while an advance In Pennsylvania Crudo oil prices was reflected In a brisk de maud for the oil shares. Some of he other strong spots were Stand ard Oil of California, Houston Oil, Chicago and Northwestern, Continen tal Can, Bosch Magneto, Stromberg Carburetor, all up 2 to 4 points. New peak prices for the year were established by Endicott Johnson, Korth American and Stewart Warner Speedometer, the gains ranging from IVj to 4 points. The closing was "rong. "The Bonded Woman" Want to gq to the South Sea Isles. Patrons of the Rialto theater will find themselves carried away to this romantic region when they see Betty Compson in "The Bonded Woman," her latest picture which opens at the Rialto tomorrow. 1 Miss Compson, as Angela, goes to a' dive In Honolulu to rescue tho man sho loves. This Is a colorful scene, with I dancing girls, sailors, and natives, and ! pictures Hawaii as most people fancy it. But fate, and the girl's wish, then remove the pair to a barren deserted island, where the denouement takes place. Miss Compson is supported by a very fine cast, including Richard Dix, John Bowers, J. Farrell MacDonnld, Ethel Wales, William ,Moran and others. Page's New Year's Attraction When we say that "Grandma's Boy" is Harold Lloyd at his best there Isn't much more to be said. Nearly all the shining lights in the motion picture firmament have their "discoverers" who boast of them. Whether Mr. Lloyd was endowed with one of these or whether he was his own Columbus, is . not generally known, but the man who ; put the Lloyd in celluloid made a big; discovery. I Even thoso who dislike motion pic-1 tures, who have been bored and tired by them and have sworn never to let ( them offend again, will bo quite safe In taking a chance on "Grandma's Boy." The company Includes Pretty; Mildred Davis as "the girl," Charles Stevenson a3 the rival and Anna; Townsend as Grandma. Dick Suther-j land and Noah Young also appear in 1 small but rather Important parts. Tho picture is the principal attraction at tho Page theatre which opens the New Year's bill tomorrow at 12:30. "Clarence" Big Hit "Clnrence," in which Wallace Reld, Agnes Ayres and May McAvoy, all stars, are featured, has scoreil a big Start the new year right by patronizing 1 an Independent ser vice station, rather than the large cor porations whose profits are spent in New York and .
