PUT ON PLAY FOR
H. SCHOOL TONIGHT
CENTRAL POINT, Dec. 14. The
"Dutch Detective," a i)lay, will be
given tonight, Friday, at the Central
hall at 8 o'clock, by the Central Point
tygfc, school. The cast under the direc
tion of Miss Brown and Mr. Wright
have been practising diligently for the
past month. Thoy have put forth
every effort to make it a success. Mr.
Charles Cunningham plays the part of
detective, and through his antics the
audience will have very good reason to
laugh. The remaining cast will' be
equally as good. The prices have been
put at a reasonable figure within the
reach of all. The proceeds will be
used for the benefit of the high school
annual, which will be published in
1923.
' On Sunday afternoon, S. E. Rangers
of Los Angeles, addressed a fair sized
audience in the Central hall. The sub
ject of his lecture was "Millions Liv
ing Will Never Die," based on facts
given in the bible. Ho gave some
evidence concerning the prophecy
Which he says will be fulfilled in 1925.
Mrs. George Ross who has been crit
ically 111, is now up and around. It is
hoped that she will improve every day
and become as strong as she was be
fore she became sick.
Ed Guches of this city has been con
fined to, his home on account of sick-noss,-
but is now very much better.
P. Olson left for Portland the first
of the week to visit his son Alex, who
la employed there. He is to return
here Suturdny.
Charles Sanderson and family of
Beagle, visited therr parents, Mr. and
Mrs. C. S. Sanderson of, this city,
Thursday afternoon. .
Ed Moore and wife of the Meadows
district, are spending the winter at the
home of their daughter, Mrs. Ellis
Clark.' Mrs. Moore's health has not
been very good for which she thought

The revival meetings which have
been carried on the past month have
been discontinued, but will be carried
on in Medford. Rev: Lovejoy however,
will continue to live here and may
start meetings again In the future.
Herman and Ruby Preame, who are
visiting at the home of William Werth

Monday afternoon.
L. F; Picket is now holding the posi
tion of .salesman in Thurber's store for
the past week.
S. B. Sandifer of near Central Point
returned from a motor trip to Portland
accompanied by his family.
Mrs.' L. W. Shores left for Falls
City, Oregon to be at tho bedside of
her mother who is critically ill.
Tho Odd Fellow, lodge of Central
Point will give a dance at Central hall
Friday;- Doc. 22. The featuro of tho
evening will lo old tlino music and old
time dances. A nominal fee of two
dollars will be charged for a supper
and an evening of dance. The proceeds
will go to a sick Odd Fellow and his
family of this city.

A rummage sale was held by the
Eastern Star and Masons in their
lodge building Wednesday afternoon.
The goods were auctioned off by Geo.
Neale. Many UBOful articles were sold
cheap. Hot tainales, pios and other
eatables were on sale and a fair crowd
was present to take advantage of the
bargains offered.
Tho friends of Mrs. W. E. Weaver
will be sorry to hear that she is again
on the sick list. That the good lady
will soon be well Is the wish expressed
by friends.
L. F. Picket and family have moved
from the Murray house in which they
have resided the past several months,
into the Merrlt house recently vacated
by Mr. French and family.
Tomorrow is the dato set for the
bazaar to be held by the Ladies' Aid
society in Mr. Thurber's store. Fancy
work suitable for Christmas gifts will
be on sale and other useful things will
be sold. Refreshments will be Berved
to all those that care to partake. Many
bargains can be found here so it will
pay you to buy Christmas gifts thore.
Mrs. Kate Eldreth of Medford was
an all day visitor at the home of her
mother, Mrs. McJimpsey, Wednesday.
John Mann returned from Sacra
mento, Calif., where he has been work
ing for the past several months, to his
borne here Monday.

long history, has been introduced in
the high school and so far has met
with success as a new candidate is

the house vacated by Mr. Picket and
family. His two boys started school

Earl Beall, high school student of
this city, has Installed in his home a
radiophone. Ho reports it to be work
ing up to the best of his expectations.
Joo Boswell is now spending a busi
ness visit in Hornbrook, Calif. He
expects to be back in time to enjoy the
holitlays with Ills family. .
Miss Letha Grigsby was a visitor In
Medford Thursday afternoon.
BUILD NEW CITY
COLD HILL, Dec. 14. (Special)
It will require $4,625.45 to meet
the operating expenses of tho city
of Gold Hill the coming year, which
will be met with a 12 mill levy. At
a mass meeting recently held in tho
city hall to consider the reconstruc
tion of tho present city water system,
which was proposed at the beginning
of the war, it was voted to begin im
mediate operation on the new sys
tem. In amending tho city charter
in 1(112 and again in 1921, bonds In
tho sum of $25,oow were voted for
that purpose. Tho city for the past
five years, have been using the Gold
Hill Canal company's power plant
under leaHe for city purposes, which
has become in very bad repair. This
old plant it is reported will be taken
over by one of tho largo mines near
Gold Hill the coming seaBon for its
exclusive use, and it will be recon
structed on large plans.
The city owns Jointly with the Gold
Hill irrigation district a 55-100 inter
est of tho district's diversion and
control works in Itosuo river three
miles above Gold Hill and privilege
of enlarging the district's canal sys
tem to the city's power site opposite
of Gold Hill. The present plans in
dicate that a battery of hydraulic
rnms'will be adopted to lift the
water to tho reservoirs abovo the city.
A new system of mains In the city
will also be constructed.

membership of tho camp with her
personal field work in tho Gold Hill
district. Tho camp whoso activities
and membership havo been nt low
ebb since the war period in their rer
cent revival -'hiivo " combined their
forces with the local camp of Modern
Woodmen in refurnishing a lodge
room for tho two camps. They havo
taken a lease- front the city of tho
fireman's room' an annex to. tho city
hall, which are tho new quarters.
The bazaar end social given by the
local I. O. O. F., and Rebecca lodges
last Saturday evening in tho I. O. O.
F. building wns tho largest attend
ed social function In tho history of
the lodges. In spite of the spacious
lodge room, dining room and other
quarters of tho building covering a
space of 60x100 feet standing room
was at a premium. Prominent lodge
membors from tho two counties wero
present and lingered until midnight
enjoying tho festivities. Tho enls
w-ero pronounced tho best, and the
several booths of freaks and sells
reaped tho lodges a rich harvest In a
financial way. Tho several clown
characters furnished by the com
mittee caused a host of merriment
among both tho young and old dur

week., Roy is able to get about a

limb is healed rightly.
There has been an unusually heavy
demand for hay in this part of the
valley tho past week. Parties from
Ashland have been hauling from
James Allen's and C. Carey's. Tho
