C "Tho annual meeting of the life members of the Southern Oregon Chautauqua associa tion with headquarters at Ashland, Oreson, is called for 8 p. m., Monday, December 11, in Chautauqua Pioneer hall, Ashland, Ore., for tho purpose of electing officers and to consider the matter of the disposition of the hold ings, of the association, with certain reservations for holding tho unnuul Chautauqua sessions, mid such other business as may lawfully como before tho meoting. The foregoing Is supposed to apply to a proposition looking towurds tho Chautauqua grounds, or a portion thereof at least, being utilized for tho big new hotel site. This is conjectural, ' however, and the item must bo qualified by tho customary precautionary safeguards to tho effect that "it is reported," "They say," etc. The site is a com manding one, far surpassing tho loca tion of the fine new Civic clubhouse on tho tide- plats of Ashland creok, con tiguous to sheds, creameries and gar agos. If the now hotel Is erected on this site, it is planned to have it face both on Main street and Pioneer ave nue, affording a wide range of tho town'B perspective. It Is understood that tho now clubhouse might have been located In this locality, utilizing Chautauqua Pioneer hall as a.muclous for its structure, but tho fino view available was offset by tho more con venient accessibility of tho Park street site, in affording a roadway by its doors leading direct to tho park area, also supplying a hondlor refuga for wenrlod tourist parents and their in fants. .
