BY JUDGE TAYLOR For having two quarts of booze in his possession on the streets of this City OBcar Wal, a Swedish laborer of Gold Jllli; drew a fine of 2.',o and costs In, Judge Taylor's court this forenoon. This fine will probably be raised by Gold Hill friends cooperat ing, at least it was so announced In court' after the sentencs. This heavy penalty was Imposed by Judge Taylor In an effort by the authorities to break up the bandof "boozers who have for some time been coming to Medford, drinking and quarreling hereabouts, and rais ing ned generally in rooming houses in the business district. A number of the out of town drinkers have been fined In the past for lntoxica tion, but without result. They al ways protected the bootleggers who furnished them with the moonshine. The JqcuI authorities have long been looking for an opportunity to break up this drinking here from out of town, and hence yesterday when Constable Sandlter found Wal on the street with two quarts of moonshine in his possession, he was eagerly gobbled in, and in court today was given the big rine. Wal is regarded here as the go between, who has been the agent between the bootleggers and the Gold Hill boozers.
