J, Kraus, und IX H. Rlckott. of tho department of botany, Univer sity of Wisconvln, spent Saturday and Sunday with PmlV Rolmnr at tho Ex periment Station. Dr. Krnus Is con sidered one of io greatest authorities In America, on plant physiology, and especially In Its relations o horticul tural plants. Ho Is tho man who work ed, out tho nitrate and carbohydrate ratio, In fruit trees, which is now the foundation ot modern pruning prac- tlces. and which places pruning on n riitlopal basis for the first time. This is Dr. Kraus's third trip to the South ern Oregon Experiment station, us he Is Vlfally interested In' tho work this station Is doing on blight resistant pears and pear storks.
