TO BEAN STALK AT FAIR A monster beanstalk with pods at the present time as large as 35 Inches long and weighing ten pounds, is being groomed for entry at the Jackson coun ty fair by E. A. Cripps, North River side resident. According to Mr. Cripps the bean, which is of the "Grand Guinea" variety, is as good to eat as the best ordinary string bean. The bean stalk was raised from a single seed and has six or eight of the big pods In various stages of growth. Mrs. Cripps will also compete for a prize by entering a crochet fillet work bedspread which required eight months to complete.
