Rivers of the Portland club announced this morn ing that following a conference' with W. J. Kenworthy. former manager of the club, the latter had signed a Portland contract. Kenworthy by the terms cf Judge Landis' decision f May 24, will not be permitted to play with any Pacific Coast league until the season of 1924. His action in Bigning with Port land, following word from Presi dent McCarthy of the Pacific Coast league, yesterday, that the directors in session Saturday had declared him a free agent, means that the local management will use Kenworthy in making some sc-Tt cf 2 deal with a club in some other league, prchabl ith either the New York Nationals or St. Louis Nationals . Negotiations are now pending with both clubs.
