week and where he underwent an op
eration for the removal of his tonsils
announces that the road crews are pav
ing the Pacific Highway between
Myrtle Creek and CanyonVllle but that
it Is no longer necessary to detour
from Canyonvlllo to Myrtle Creek by
way of Riddle and Unit tourists will
now use the highway straight through
between the two towns.

and it was there that the party played
bridge and the refreshments were

The Copco Tennis club staged a for
mal opening of the new court last
evening with a large number of club
members and their friends in atten
dance. Several good matches were
played, closing only when darkness
rendered further play Impossible. This
new tennis club has done much to
stimulate interest , in this popular
sport throughout the valley and it
promises to be ono of the largest ten
nis organizations in southern Oregon.
The membership list which is limited
to tlie members of the California-Oregon
Power company personnel, already
numbers over thirty and is increasing
rapidly. Plans will soon be perfected
by tho court committee for a club tour
nument to take place in the near
future.
