.furnish 'strong consolation' to those
who have-fled for refuge to the hope
set before them. In Paul's wonder

claiming a new nope and taitn, lie

'Judged for tho hope of tho promise
made of God unto our fathers,' and
for- that very hope was accused of the
Jews.

the young peoples canning club each
met Thursday at the school bouse
whore ull wore served delightful re
freshments by the serving committee
of tho Ladies' Industrial club.
The Canning club will meet every
two weeks at the school house
Thursday afternoons. The Ladies'
club will meet again August 10th
owing to the busy season and will be
served by tho serving committee of
the Canning club. Tho subject of
purchasing needful material for the
sick and needful families of our com
munity was. voted upon and carried
by tho Ladies' club. The subject of
an ice cream social was also taken
up with the time for holding to bo
decided at a later date.
Harvesting Is now in full swing, the
late very warm weather hnvlug ripen
ed the grain quickly,
Mr. and Mrs. M. Shoemaker of
Portland arrived Sunday at the home
of their friends, Mr. and Mrs. Geo.
Zimmerman. Later the party of the
two families visited Crater Lake. The
Shoemakers left Thursday for their
home after a very pleasant time.

Thomas Meighan has another pt

which he is to be seen today, Sunday

ward Peple wrote the story. He is
also author of "The Prince Chap," in
which Meighan made so great a hit.
The story has to do with a big
hearted man who adopts a. whole fam
ily of children when their father, the
superintendent of his mines, is killed
in defending them from an attack by
bandits.
There is much of fun in the picture
when the "bachelor daddy" takes the
children from the Mexican border to
New York, their behavior on the train
-being anything hut edifying, while it Is
delightfully humorous.
