which should delight Medford fans will
be staged Friday night at the Medford
Athletic club regular Friday night
amp tour smoker. All of the contes
tants are members of the club and
have been working out for the pastj
two weeks in preparation for the smo
ker. .This will be the opening smoker
of a: series of regular Friday night
amateur exhibitions which promise to
be popular with Medford boxing fans
as the prices of admission are low and
the bouts will he first class according
to Manager K. O. Hob llrown.
The bouts on the card are as foj
lows: Chet Hrown vs. Joe Blackburn at
145 pounds. Tom Sharkey vs. nob
Duey at 17G pounds. Lawrence Daw
vs. Red Meadows at 152 pounds.
"Sunny" Austin vs. Ed Meadows at
112 pounds. Chauncey Hooker vs.
Jake Smith at 115 pounds. Ben Har
rell vs. Noble Everett at 85 pounds.
Ned Harrell vs. Buriel Brown at 81)
pounds and Joe Harrell vs. Sani Knox
at 110 pounds.
The main event between Brown and
Blackburn promises to be a hummer as
both have been training for the past
two weeks In anticipation of a fast go.
Hrown has defeated Blackburn once
but in recent workouts Joe has given
Chet all that the latter wished for and
the outcome of Friday night's bout Is
doubtful.
The way Sharkey has been landing
on his sparring partners is a caution,
according to "K.O." who has been
watching Sharkey's workouts, and it
looks as though Duey, a hard Phoenix
cowboy and Sharkey, would stage a
bout worth watching.
Red Meadows has been training with
a 20 pound sledge hammer and an
anvil and Daw has been making holl
ers and handling railroad ties single-
handed In order to get in shape for the
contests, reports Manager Brown

Noble Everett Involves two banana
specials and promises to bo a hard
fight.

been partly blacked In a workout and

Brown. Ho will either get it fully

matched.

Ashland committee In charge will
present a program 10 visitors that is
sure to win their approval.
July 3rd will He Ford day, devoted
to KtuntH and races of all description,
exclusively for Fords. Vrentling
matches will ho provided. The fol
lowing day, July 4, will be the big
day of the- celebration, and at that
time, there will be parades, park at
tractions, a baseball game, boxing
contests, band concerts and many
other features.
A special invitation has been ex
tended by the parade committee to
merchants and car owners in Med
ford and other Southern Oregon
towns to participate in the big pa
rade. It is the committee's aim to
make this a Jackson county parade,
not nn Ashland parade find Medford
people are requested to turn out and
make a big showing.
"The Lilhians," an organization
composed of Ashland young men,
will have charge of parade arrange
ments, which azures the visitors n
real procession. Kvcry effort is being
made hy Ashland people to show the
celebration visitors a good time and
they anticipate a record-breaking
crowd.

CREAMERY IS PUT OUT
A fire starting n round the base of
the smokestack nt the Jackson County
Creamery at 7 o'clook this morning
was quickly extinguished by the local
fire department before much damage
had been done. A hole about 8 feet
square wns burned in the roor and the
boiler room was smoked considerably.
It is estimated that tho damage will
not exceed two or throe hundred dol
lars. The department used a 350 foot
length of hose In extinguishing the
blaze.
