The Recreation club held their last mooting for the year at the club house Thursday afternoon. The following of ficers were elected for the ensuing year:. The Gold Hill committee of the Pub lic Healtli association held its first baby clinic at the school house on June 9th. County Nurse Miss Fnlldine with Dr. Holt conducted the clinic. Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Mallard of Duns- muir, Calif., are visiting Mrs. Ballard's father, George Hoffman and other rela tlves. Mrs. B. T. Meeker and daughters, Misses Mary, Elizabeth and Margaret of San Francisco, are visiting at the Hawkins home. They are relatives of the Hawkins brothers nnd Mrs. Fox. Roy Johnston, Lee Johnston and Fremont Jordon motored to Grants Pass one day last week. Our school closed Inst Friday rather late on account of being closed for six weeks on account of smallpox In the district. School meeting was held on Monday for the purposo of electing one director and clerk. Mrs. Dick Hoffman was elected director to succeed Thos. Wll lianis. who goes out this year. Mrs. Dick Hoffman was elected clerk. Miss Viola Hogan will be the teacher for the ensuing year. Fremont Jordon attended tho base ball game at Antelope last Sunday. Mrs. Dick Hoffman returned to her home a few days ngo after visiting relatives and friends at Central Point and Phoenix for1 a few days. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Pittock and children of Humbug, were visiting Mrs. Pittock's mother last Sunday. M. K. lllngham was transacting busi ness in Medford a few days ago. Leo Hoffman returned to his home a few days ngo from Phoenix where he had been attending school. Dave Hnyward and Cyril Atkins left Inst Wednesday for Capip Lewis In company with the National Guard. E. Pangborn of Grants Pass pur chased nod killed hogs at Hawkins Bros.' a few daya ngo. F. F. Grove motored to Grants Pass on Wednesday of last week. Bernard Hogan Is spending a few days at home with his father and sis ters on the Shamrock ranch. Earl Kendall left last week for Wat kins where ho will work for the gov ernment survey crew. Two men wore killed, a deputy sheriff suffered a broken arm and a dozen other persons received minor injuries when a mob attacked an in terurban traction car carrying non union miners and officers of the Hudson Coal company, guarded by deputy sheriffs, from this city to Lewis Mine near Keynoldsville this morning. The mob stopped tho car, pulled off the trolley and swarmed nboard. Two of the attacking party were shot as they crawled through windows. The mine was operated on an open shop basis Monday. Miles Cantrall made a business trip to Medford last Thursday. Clyde and Cliff Smith motored to Medford Saturday evening. Ray Offenbacher was a Medford visitor Friday evening.
