prices for a year or more were estab
lished by -speculative favoriteB dur
ing tho morning. Mexican petroleum
IncreaBod. Its gain to 9 points and
Studebaker rose 3 V4 points. Most
other foreign and domestic oils con
tinued to strengthen. Independent
steels were substantially better. Gulf
States' rising, over 6 points. Gains of
1 to 2 points were scored by Crucible
Lackawanna, Midvale, Vanadium,
Nova Scotia and Republic. Ameri
can and Baldwin locomotives wore
strongest of ,the .equipments. Corn
products, ooca cola, allied chemicals,
American smelting and Sears Roe
buck gained 1 to 2 points. Halls re
mained sluggish on very light deal
ings. . Call money opened at 3 per
cent and foreign ,. exchanges were
firmer.
