The tall flag pole flying the citys'
large U. S. flag, which was erected by
the American Legion post on the
Southern Pacific parkway yesterday
afternoon, is a distinct patriotic decor
ative feature to the business district
and seems to tone up everything in its

of the distant arc lights falling on the

wrestling championship, was signed up

tists realize that If they do not com

As W. O, Webster backed from the
curb on East Main near Riverside last
evening In a Dodge roadster the point
of his rear spring caught the right rear
fender of an Overland touring car
driven by W.'C. Schmidt which was
rounding the corner from Riverside
into Main and the fender of the Over
land was torn loose. None of the occu
pants of either car were injured and
the Dodge sustained no damage, the
damage to the Overland was estimated
at about $25.

recently state that the river below the
dam is literally packed with salmon
duo to the fish ladders being closed
The ladders have been closed for sev
eral weeks because of repair work be
ing done on the racks at the Elk Creek
hatchery and the salmon are so nil
merous below Gold Rny dam that they
are literally unable to swim, according
to reports.

ters above the Woolworth store Is
proving popular with the dining out
public. It Is the Parlor Tea Rooms,
which is operated under the manage
ment of Mrs. Claire Fancher.
The Idea of dining in a quiet, cool
place amid well . furnished pleasant
surroundings and appointments has
made a hit not only with the women
of the city but tho men also. At first
the masculine patrons were scarce as
it was generally thought that the Par
lor Tea Rooms catered only to women
and served only tea and light things
such as wafers, cakes and salads.
But now that it is known that good
substantial food and dainties, cooked
in home stylo, with liberal helpings
is served at reasonable prices, the
men, especially business mon, are
swelling the patronuge. Patrons at
