LOYAL MERCHANTS Over' a quarter or a million dollars will ue spent in Medford for buildings homes, business, and industrial for the first six months of he present year. This is the largest building boom in the history of the city. For homes, approximately $50,000 ! was spent, for business buildings or alterations in old ones. $100,000, and the same amount for industrial and community structures. The California-Oregon Power com pany has plans for a $50,000 ware house, the business block at the cor ner of Sixth and Bnrtlett streets, to cost $35,000 Is nearlng completion, and l alterations to the Medford National Hank costing $30,000 will be complet ed by July 1st. Among the homes under construc tion or completed are the following: E. D. Peteh, manager of the Oregon Gas company, who Is constructing a new two-story home on the Pacific highway betwoen this city and Phoenix to cost approximately $10,000. Lewis Ulrich is building a $5000 home on Minnesota avenue, the Penn sylvania colonial style of architecture being employed. This home, accord ing to Mr. Clark, ia unique in arrange ment, and different from anything in the stute, the plans being largely the idea of Mrs. Ulrich. Across the street from the Ulrich I home, Pert Thlorolf has completed a $11000 home following the New England colonial stylo of architecture, and ad joining the Thlerolf residence George rorter has built a $5000 home. Ro land Hubbnrd has plans for a $3500 bungalow on the same street. Dr. M. I C. Barber recently completed a $6000 home in this section. Larkln Reynolds is building a $3S00 home, following the Pennsylvania Dutch colonial style. Ed Miller has underway a $4000 home on tho P'iclfle highway, south near the city limits, nnd this too will follow tho colonlul style of architec ture, Willi a DO foot frontage. Among the handsome homes com pleted this yen Is that of C. I. Hutch inson, on West Main street, costing close to $15,000. C. F. Nichols completed a colonial type homo on South Holly Btreet cost ing $3800. Arthur Tyo also construct ed a $2200 home on Ross Court. It is not expected that the building boom will lag until winter, as the de mand for homos Is still strong, and many of the ex-sorvlce men plan to build ns soon as they receive lonns under the state bonus bill, now being issued. ANIIOCH HEMS Mrs. MeKinney closed school at Antioch Friday with a program and picnic. Mr. Mosa was out and gave the children a talk on club work. Miss Purr was also out and presented the eighth grado diplomas to Aubry Inlow, Bernlce . Rodgers, Geneva Glass, Gwnlda Sobrenn and Tliolma Glass. Mrs. C; R. Weston of Ashland is staying on their ranch nt Jleagle for her health. Chns. Green of Portland, is staying at Mr. and Mrs. Theo. Glass'. Mr. Glass and Mr. Green are interested in the insurance business. Mr. and Mrs. Chapman and son and daughter spent Memorial Day in Med ford nnd visited with Mr. and Mrs. T. Norris nnd attended Chautauqua in the afternoon. ; Mr. nnd Mrs. Jess Glass went to Willow Springs Sunday to Mr. and Mrs. Pipe's to attond preaching. ' Mr. nnd Mrs. Wilson and Orlan Glass nnd wife were visiting at Mr. Glass' Sunduy at Antioch. Mr. nnd Mrs. J. C. Barnard ot Ash land nnd Mrs. Anita Dempsey and baby of Portland, were visitors at Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Sanderson's Friday. Mr. Mulhollen of Medford and Mrs. Nelson of Eagle Point, visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. C. O. Mulhollen of Beagle. : Mr. Gohlert was a Central Point vis itor this week. Mr. nnd Miss Swnnson spent Sunday with Mr. nnd Mrs. Lucus. ' Frank Marquis and his two sisters and other friends spent Saturday night with friends in Beagle. ' C. Clark nnd R. E.
