DpT !IW iiediori All plans for permanent buildings for the county fair grounds are now completed and nt the meeting of the directors of tho fair association ltt evening. W. L. Miller and 11. D. Tur ner were employed to suporlniend tho construction of same. The work will bo divided Into two crews as tho construction work must proceed rap idly In order to be completed by Sep tember 13th the opening dato of the fair. There will be live structures built. The stock pavllllon, tho woman's building, the agricultural and horti cultural palaces, the main entrance nnd eight units of the grand stand With a seating capacity of ltOO. Tho committee in charge of tho tree planting reported that appar ently one hundred trees have been set out but on account of tho lateness of tho season, the balance of the money contributed for that purpose will bo held until fall, at which time the rest of the trees will be planted. The state of Oregon will provide HtOO for premiums and the direc tors appropriated on additional sum of $1400 so that a total of 13000 will be available for prize money. None of this premium money will ho spent for races as the laws of the state will not permit it, nor will any of thU money como from tho tax levy which the people voted, but will be derived from tho admission and concession charges. The appointment of superinten dents of exhibits and superintendents of grounds with its various divisions was given serious consideration and the publicity campaign will be arted upon at tho next meeting. The track team of the Cnieereity of California which will compete in the Inter-collegiate field championships in Harvard stadium tomorrow and Saturday ar rived here today and had a little workout. Leland Stanford's team, the other Pacific coast invaders, ar rived yesterday and Coach It. L. Templeton said his men generally were in good condition. An Innovation in the selection of men for tomorrow's heats in the track events was onnoumed by O. T. Kirby, referee. Coaches were re quested to send him a list of their starters in the order of their ability. May 5 Police here today said they had solved the mys tcry attending a long series of, burg laries here with the arrest today of four men and the alleged confessions of three of them. The officers said loot valued at $5000 had been re covered of an amount estimated at five times that sum.
