Last night at the dinner held at the Presbyterian church plans were com pleted and names assigned to the dif ferent teams. Mrs. Loralne Cornish, president of the local Y. V. C. A., pre sided over the meeting;. Mayor C. E. Gates spoko of the excellent work the Msoclatian was doing in the cases of individual girls In Medford. J. CJ Mann in his "snoerh satd: "The Y. W. C. A. is worth more to the people of Medford this year than it was last. It has proved its worth by this year's experience. The proposition Is already sold. The question now Is simply t collect for It" Miss Katherine Rogers, national hoard secretary, who has had much experience in engineering Y. W. C. A. drives spoke of the definite plans of the campaign, and gave many helpful suggestions to the solicitors. Campaign headquarters are located at the llulck Garage on West Main and each afternoon of the drive tea will be served at 4:30 when a report of committees will be heard. By contributing to the Y. VV. (By Associated Press). In an attempt to fly around the world by air, two British aviators plan to hop off from the flying field at Croydon at noon tomorrow. The airmen, Major W. T. Blake of the Royal air force and Captain Nor man MacMlllan, expect to complete their trip in two months. The route lies through France, Italy, Greece, Egypt, Mesopotamia, India, eastern China, Japan, thence via the Aleutian islands to Alaska, through the United States to New York to . Newfoundland and across the Atlantic to Greenland and Iceland to Scotland. : The route for the trip was visualized by Sir Ross and Keith Smith of Aus tralia but the latter abandoned his plans when his brother was killed re cently In a preparatory flight. Mrs. Hoover met the various j committee Monday evening, and an nounced herself well pleased with the- work already done. She predicts that Medford will go over the top In salva of tickets. Mrs.. Hoover has been with tho Kllison-Whlte for etght years and asked what she thought of the talent on this year's Chautauqua expressed herself very emphatically in saying that She believed that it was the best all round program she had seen. All ticket holders are asked to criticise the talent, but so generally are the patrons pleased thut they have no .criticisms so fur. The lecturers. Mrs. Hoover says, are superb and will enthuse all who hear them. The Chautauqua opens Friday af ternoon and will continue six days. That star route daily carrier service between Medford and Klamath Falls, in both directions, which Postmaster Wamer has long etrived with the post office department to bring about, goes into effect tomorrow. It will make a difference of 24 hours in the delivery of the ordinary mail between the two cities. The daily pouch from Medford for Klamath Fails will bo made up in time to depart on train 13 leaving here at 9:17 a. m.. for handling bv the star route carrier. The Ashland postofflce will make np a pouch for Medford for handling by the star route, putting in the mail from Klamath Falls that is brought over the mountains by the daily stage this way, and this pouch ill be brought by stage to Medford by 30 or 3 p. m. in time to be distributed along with the mail arriving on the northbound passenger train from Port land. No registered mail will be car ried by this new star route service. BELFAST, May 23. The financial burden of publishing the first issue was borne by the senior class and the staff was' composed of seniors.
