April 10. The en tire town ct Luuisden, Sask., on the Canadian Northern railway is prac tically under water as a result of fcpring floods. Grocery stores in the town are using boats to deliver pro visions to the homes where wholo families are forced to live on the up per floors. According to travelers who reached Regina today from that district, the water is in- some places ten teet deep. Train service. It is ald will be delayed for a time, at one point 350 fet cf railway track ietng under water. The water has smbxyied sufficiently to permit trains being pushed over the track Into the flooded area. Tho gopher control demonstrations started in this county last week have proved of great Interest to many of the farmers and orchardtsts of the community. Five fields were care fully gone over and a flint placement of bait made, which was to be follow ed ln three days, weather permitting and exclusive of Sundays. These re peat demonstrations are now going on wherein a check is made on the first work. The fields being worked todsy are those of fcverett Leeson near Talent, and Mr. Paine near Ashland. Tues day the check will be made on the Lewis Bennett place now owned by Mr. Smiley near Medford and on that of Capt. Tuttle near Table Rock. Wednesday morning If the weather Is clear and warm some work in pois oning the digger squirrel will be done on the hospital hill and a Berond check on the field of Miss Alice Han ley in the afternoon. The bait used for the gopher is sweet potatoes cut Into cubes a half inch by an inch and poisoned with strychnine and asccarine, while for the digger poisoned barley is used.
