stigma of illegitimacy for a name and
reHiHsi tabllity, Mra. Grace Jarret Stof
fel, legal wife of George Stotfol, pro
prietor of a local garage, obtained In
county court today a preliminary de
cree of divorce.
The domestic affairs ot tbe Slot-'
fcl's were aired in Juvenile court in
August, 1921, when Miss Nellie
Phillips, 25, complained to the court
that Mrs. Stoffel was sekliig to gain
possession of the two children which
she had borne Mrs. Stoffel's husband.
Miss Phillips who admitted she had
been "soul mate" of the garage man
for four years, charged Jlrs. Stoffel,
a childless woman, with seeking to
deprive her of her "own flesh and
blood."
Juvenile court officials found Stof
fel had been living with his wjfft and
also for four years hail maintained a
second establishment In this city for
Mms Phillips and his two children.
Stoffel. who waa 28. divided his time,
both women admitted, between them.
At that time Stoffel was ordered by
the Juvenile court to pay $20 for the
support ot his children by Miss
Phillips.
In court today Mrs. Stoffel told
Judge Luxford that she went to In
diana shortly after tho Juvenile court
order and said when she returned she
found Miss Phillips had taken her
place in her apartment and had lived
there since. She told the court her
husband said he would marry the
other woman as soon as he was free.

county health nurse, Is recovering
today from a hazardous trip of
23 miles on eklis through a blind-
ing snowstorm which she under-
took for the relief of a destitute
family of six In the northern part
of Klamath county. Miss Fricke
went to Kirk where she found the
roads blocked with four feet of
snow. Miring four men, and equip-
ping them and herself with food
and clothing, ahe battled tbe way
through a blizzard until compelled
to camp for the night In a desert- 4
ed cabin. The party resumed the
task the next day and reached
the family in time to bring the
relief.
Although nearly exhausted the
party returned on skils the next
