ness. The funeral waa held at the
home of her daughter, Mrs. Clark,

which Mrs. Libby was a member

two others to assist the pastor in the
services. IUth the choir and quartet
will simr, and an enjoyable evening Is
expected.
The building was the direct out
growth of real need for the com
munity. Hnsket ball so far is the lead
ing game, but the smaller children also
have an hour of play a week, under tha
direction of their teachers.
The floor of tho building is two
steps lower than the Sunday school
room wheiv it joins onto the church.
A larRo opening was cut in the wall, so
that this room serves now as. a plat
form whenever it is oeslred to use the
new building as an auditorium, for
plays, programs, etc.
The large fireplace in the center of
tho sMewall. opposite the main en
trance, the old fashioned. small-liKht
casement windows, together with the
beam construction, give the large room
a quaint, home-like appearance. Two
bracket lights over the mantel, a crane
on either side of a glowing fire, a
motto in tho panel in the mantel Just
over the firo. with tho words "That
Reminds Me." supsests story telling,
laughter, and all that makes for a real
good, sociable time.
The, big event of the season will be
tho formal opening of the building, on
the following Wednesday evening. A
banquet will be given, with covers for
at least two hundred people, including
all who have donated money and labor
with their families and friends of the
church and comnihnlty. Many prom
inent people will be present from dif
ferent parts of southern Oregon.
Eleven lively L. O. P. H.'s, and
T. O. P. H.s gathered at the home of
Miss Carstens Wednesday evening.
About ail the arts of the needle and
hook were demonstrated and dis
cussed, before leaving time fruit
salad,' wafers and tea were consumed.
Good nature continued till smiling
good-njghts were said. Those present
were Mesdames .O'Kelly, White.
Browne. Straban, Ilurkliart. Ca'.iuate,
Carter and Dyer. Misses Pennington,
Mikscbe and Carstens.

enterprising young men. did not think
iur girls basketball team would ever
win a game from an outside team. Ho
ventured to tell the girls about it, and
carelessly added that If they ever won
a game he would treat them to a
chicken dinner. Last Friday evening
the girls score over Central Point
stood 20 to 15. For several days Albert
has been very quiet Today seven high
school girls, with Mr. E. C. Browne,
the principal, enjoyed an extra fine
dinner at the Waldorf. Albert Van
Goethen served as host.

A meeting of the Ladies' Civic club
was hold last Friday at the Library,

cerning'the library were discussed.
Tbe ladles so far have donated their
services in keeping open the library on
certain days eacU week, but the duties
connected with it are growing to such
an extent that It wa3 considered nec
essary to petition the town council for
a small salary for a regularly appoint
ed librarian. This request baa since
been granted.
