California-Oregon Power Co., was here

told us ot the proposed plan ot the
company to put in another power plant
on Rogue river, somo five miles below
the one near Prospect when they will
extend the electric line to Kugene of
110,000 volts. The plant will be locat
ed at the Hole in the Ground Just after
leaving the Flounce Rock grade,
where they will have a perpendicular
drop of 1000 feet. They expect to take
the water from the reservoir at the
Prospect plant and bring It down In an
eight-foot iron or steel pipe, having a
tremendous fall from the reservoir to
the Hole In the Ground and there with
a drop of a thousand feet to the river
one can hardly Imagine the amount of
force or power they can control. There
nearls also another thought connected with
the undertaking and that is the amount
of labor that will be necessary to ac
complish the job and how It will help
the men who are now looking! for em
ployment. '

very painful and wilt lay him up for a

The West Hill sewing club met with
Mrs. W. A. Thompson on Wednesday
afternoon. There are only eight mem
bers to this little club but they have
some very enjoyable meetings.
The next meeting of the. Willow
Springs Thursday club will be on Feb.

Sunday morning was one of those
lovely cool, crisp mornings such as we
so often have here In January and Feb
ruary, here in southern Oregon, such
as makes one thankful that their lot
has fallen in such a desirable place.
There was nothing remarkable going
on. Rer. H. O. Adams had an appoint
ment to preach In Brownsboro and
started out on foot thinking that per
haps he would meet with a chance to
ride, but no such luck, so he kept on
walking until he reached the school
house and after preaching to a small
congregation he said that they had
bad a dance the night before, and a
school meeting the one before that so
there were not many out so after
partaking t dinner with some of bis
friends started on the return trip with
the same result, walked all the way.
