The Southern Pacific depot interior
these days, is a sorry looking spectacle
as a crew of company painters and
decorators proceed with their work of
calsomining the walls and ceilings,
necessitating the rearrangement "or
benches and other furniture. The sight
and , commotion around was too much
for the nerves of Mark Montgomery.

Senator Chas. Thomas, . who . was
here yesterday with the Medford dele
gation of the D. O. K. K., stated that
matters now seemed in a fair way 'for
the immediate financing of the Talent
Irrigation district through the sale of
$00,00Q in bonds which would com
plete the project. Mr. Thomas has
been a factor, in the development of
the Talent district, as well as of other
southern Oregon , irrigation projects,
and was quite.elated at the action of
the late legislature in passing over the
governor' veto the bill which will pre
vent the holding up of districts for
rights of way for dams and canals. The
new bill permits the districts to file
bonds to cover damages, When immedi
ate possession of the right of way re
quired can be obtained, thus prevent
ing a single selfish interest from de
laying the work upon an entire project.
