Brumfleld was . brought here last
night and placed in cell No. 117 In
murderer's row In the state prison.
At the Pacific Fruit & Produce com
pany plant yesterday A. J. Green, one
of the employes found a pretty colored
slender snake about fifteen inches
long in a bunch of bananas from Cen
tral America. The name of the species
of snake is unknown here, and the
reptile was placed in a bottle and ex
hibited around town.

BEECHER Milton Beechcr died
at his homo in Central Point, Octo
ber 31, at 6 a. m.'from infirmities
due to old age, aged 90 years, 4
months and 13 days. He was a na
tive of Indiana, and crossed the plains
In 1850, with ox teams, settling in
the Willamette valley. He was mar
ried to Barbara Murray at Eugene,
Ore., (November 30, 1S57. To this
union were born nine children of
whom D are living, four daughters
and one son. They are Mrs. Ellen
Morgan of Eagle Point, Mrs. Martin
Masterson of Carlton, Ore., Mrs. An
nie Stephenson of Mitchell, Ore., Mrs.
Edith Roberts of Dufur, Ore., and
Thomas Beecher of Central Point,
Oregon. He also leaves eleven
grandchildren. Mr. Beecher was a
resident of Central Point 15 years,
and of Oregon 68 years.
Funeral services will be held at the
homo in Central Point, Wednesday at
10 a. ni. Interment in Trail cemetery.
Portland Killer Guilty.
PORTLAND, Ore., Nov. 1. Joseph
J. Henderson was last night convicted
of manslaughter by a jury before
which he was tried on a charffe of
first degree murder for killing of his
former wife. August 8.
