AJl Christians bejleve that the BI- ble.ls God's Word;ot truth. All Chris tians, Catholic and Protustnnt, agree that the Blblo teaches that Uod creat- ed tho first man perfect; that this man sinned and was sentenced to death before he begat any children; that he was driven from Eden, and later exercised his divinely given function to beget children, and that Ills children were all "born In sin and Bhapcn in iniquity (Psalm Dl:6); nnd that for this reason every one of the human race has been born im perfect, inheriting this imperfection from tho first man Adam. Romans 5.: 13. -.. , . All Christians further ngreod that Clod made a promise to redeont raun from death ( Hosea 13:14); that he promised Abraham: "In thy seed ahull all the families of the earth he I)I038ih1" (tlonesls v;r3); that later Josus came to earth ; that Jesus was baptised in tho Jordnn; that ho was afterwards crucified upon tho cross and arose from tho dead aud ascend ed on high. . For tho past nlueteen. hundred years Christians have been preaching those doctrines. It they are true, then the pertinent question Is, Why has Ood permitted the carrying out of such arrangement ns ubove men tioned? What Is his real purpose In It? Other Scriptures answer this question conclusively, that his pur pose Is to provide for the restoration of man to his original perfection and thereby grant to man everlasting life on earth. Acts 3:19-21. Every ono of the prophets of old foretold that it was Hod's purpose to grunt restoration blessings to the hu man race. (Acts 3:24). Only a few persona will go to hoaven. Jesus said that there would bo but a little flock. (Luke 12:32) What, then, will bo- come of the other millions of earth's population? The answer Is. God will give them an opportunity to be re stored to perfect human conditions. If restoration of-the human raco Is not true, then the promise made to Abraham must vo void; the promise to redeem the human raco from death could not be true, and the death and resurrection of Jesus would be wholly useless. We know these are all per mitted for a purpose and that the perfect wisdom of Jehovah devised this arrangement and ho hns boon carrying it out for tho express pur pose of blessing mankind. Jesus plainly said: "I am come that they (the people) might have life and have It more abundantly." (John 10:10) Again ho said that he canio to give his life a ransom, a pur chase price, for man. (Matthew 10. 2S) Again we read: "God so loved. MEDFOTCD, OttEGON. MONDAY. . OCTOBER '31. Mrs. Similiter 8. " ' the' world, that he gnva his only be gotten Son, that whosoever belleveth In Jilm "Bhould not perish, but have overlastlng life." (John 3:10) Again, that' Jesus gave his life a ransom for all, to be testified to all In due time. (1 Timothy 2; 5, 6) UnlesB, then, the opportunity comes to man to know the truth, to obey It, and when obe dient to live, these promises are a mockory and Christianity a failure. No Christian will admit that Chris tianity is a failure, because he knows It will not be. God's Word must ac complish Its purpose Isaiah 68:11. This being true, then, all must ad mit that a time will come when this opportunity fur life everlasting will be offored to the people. The ques tion is, When is that time? Upper most In the minds of the Lord's dis ciples was this- questfon. They ex pected tho Messianic kingdom to be set up some time. . Ho had told them It would happen at the end of the World. He told them he was going away and would return again for them; and because thoy wore so anx ious to know when the blessings promised to Abraham would begin thoy propounded to him this ques tion: "Master, tell us how may we know of your presence nnd of the end of the world." Jesus did not answer this question by telling them that when the duo time arrived God would bring forth some stranga phenomenon in the skies; but his answer show that the evldenco would be such that when the time does arrive every thinking person could understand. Honce he answered that tho end of tho. social nnd political order existing then, and still existing in a measure, would be gin with a world war, followed by famine nnd pestilence and revolutions In various parts of the earth. (.Mat thew 25:7) These things had the beginning of their fulfillment in 1911. According to lllble chronology, the gentile times ended there, nnd Chris tians expected the trouble to begin. as indeed It did. The famine has come; the pestilence has afflicted the earth; revolution has upset many gov ernments and is now threatening all the social fabric of the world. Jesus furthermore said that at that timo there would be great distress in tho earth, men's hearts falling them for fear of what they see coming on the earth (Luke 21:25, 20); and now we see this fulfilled. He further states that as It was In tho days of Noah, so should it be at tho end of the world. In .Noah's day there were giants in the earth. At tho present time thore are giant. The giants in Noah's day were typical of tho giants of this time. At present thero are glnnt corporations which are absorbing all the smaller ones nnd controlling al) llio business iutorgaUj !K1 .1ALEM, Ore.. Oct. 31. The state i-ipreme court reversed and remanded the case of F. V. Iadbctter, appellant against O. L. Price, executor of the estate of the lute H. L. Pittock of Portland. The suit was based on the a legation that the executor should l'-uve listed only half of Hume real and personal property In which the -de ceased and Leadbetter were partners. The decision In the lower court was a'julnsf Leadbetter and he appealed. The opinion holds that essentially the isrue is whether there was a partner ship existing between Pittock and Leadbetter at the time of the former's death. The supreme court did not de jclde whether a partnership actually .exists, leaving that to be determined by the lower court, but the opinion to jday holds that the lower court has 'jurisdiction in the case. According to tho jubilee system, which was typical of the reign ot Mes siah when the blessing of the world should begin, the time is here. The Jubilee types must of necessity end in 1925, at which time earth's troubles shall cease and the blesslng3 of life begin to be offored to . the human race.- There are millions of people now on earth who will surely be liv ing at that time; hence if they are obedient to the Messianic kingdom then to be established, they shall live and not die. Without a doubt that is the time Jesus referred to when he said: "He that liveth and belleveth in me shall never die." (John 11:20) And again: "Verily, verily, I say unto you. If a man keep my saying, ho shall never see death' (John S:51) The appli cation ot. Christ's merit will lift the i curso from mankind; and then, as the Scriptures show, he will teach men j how to think, how to act, how to j care for themselves, what is proper j food; uncf gradually they will be re-i generated in body nnd in mind, and thus continuing until all of the hu man race who are obedient, will reach ' a stage of human perfection and con-! tinue to live and not die. Then will be fulfilled tho prophetic words of tho Master spoken through John the j Ilevelator: "And I saw a new heaven : and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there wus no moro sea. And 1 1 John saw the holy city, new Jerusa lem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And 1 heard a great voice out of heaven saying, He-j hold the tnhernaclo of God Is with , men, and ho will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
