October ..-1021 EXTENDING CALL Tomorrow is "do to Church Sunday" for Medford and the surrounding coun try. The churches of the city unite in extending an urgent call to the entire population to renew their church going habit, and attend some church both morning and evening. The pastors at the morning Bervice will speak on some phase of church going and the benefit to the individual and commu nity which comes from giving the church a place in the life of the people. The churches of Medford are strong organizations and the castors are striving, with the means- and support gfen them to carry out a strong program of real worthwhile things, given them to carry out a strong odists and the Haptists, are planning new church buildings, which will be a credit to the city and to the work they are doing, and deserve the help of the entire community, regardless of their church connections. The world situation calls for a re turn to the church and a greater em phasis on religion. Lloyd George says, "It is Christ or chaos." Vice-President Coolidge says, "A community without religion goes to pieces." Hamilton Holt sayB, "The biggest thing in the world today is religion." He stays away, but sends his boy, and when the boy becomes a young man, he wonders why his son doesn't like the church. Jones fails to reason that in not going to church, he virtually votes to close the church doors. He is doing all he can to eliminate them from the com munity. ' ; . . Absenteeism from the ballot-box arid the church are kindred failures to society. Worship is the highest function of which man is capable. When Jones goes to church he says by his action, "I believe in God." Thoughtful people go to church because the church stands for the best things.
