Oregon is the only state in tho I'nltcd States that had on Juno I of this year prospects for a larger crop of pears than at the same date one year ago, according to advices n ceived by tho Oregon (.'rowers Co operative Association and also accord ing to tho fignros of the bureau of oKt'mutcH of tho department of agri culture. The estimate on tho pear crop o? the country in general on June 1 of crop. Last year on Juno 1 tho esti mate was for 73 per cent of a full crop. New Jersey has practically no crop at all, while last year the estimate Juno 1 was for !M) per cent of a crop. Ohio has only 15 per cent of a crop In sight, while a year ago the esti mate was for 77 per cent of a -crop of pears. The Illinois crop is in about as bad condition, with an estimate Juno 1 for 15 per cent of a crop while ono year ago prospects were for 70 per cent. Indiana has only 1(' per cent of a crop In sight, compared to 79 per cent for Juno 1, of last year. SHOW ON FRUIT SHIPPED EAST SALIC.M. Ore. And Just to prevont any possible misunderstanding about this spray residue on pears, the chem'stry of ficials havo sent word to growers in tho wost that shipments of pears in tended for the east must lie clean of spray residue And not only must thero be no evidence of spray on pears, but chemistry officials state many eastern markets will refuse to accept shipments with ovideuco of spray on tho fruit.1 ' In California, 1 tho state board ot health and tho U.
