The week of fine weather ended
abruptly with a thunder storm over
the valley which began about 3 o'clock
Sunday afternoon and lasted an hour
or more, thus putting an end toman)
outings and picnic parties. Lightning
struck a number of trees. The storm
seemed to show more strength In the
south end of the county and In the
Willow Springs district. The lightning
blew out a few fuses of the power com
pany but otherwise did no damage to
speak of so far as could be learned to
day. It was the first thunder storm
of the spring season. The .08 of an
inch of rain which fell in the Medford
vicinity was needed as the gardens
mid ground were becoming rather dr
ngaln.

(Ions of the vayey is summed up as
follows In Saturday s Gold Hill News
"Tho heavy frost which visited this
valley this week commencing Sunday
morning and every morning since has
dono Inestimable amount of damage lo
fruit and garden truck. The weather
all spring has been so balmy and plea

advanced, and gardeners were entirely
disarmed and careless. Some of the
more caroful local guidenurs covered
their stniberrles and will be able to
