FIRST BAPTIST CELEBRATES ITS 'GOAL' VICTORY Kurt or wan a day of great Interest to the Kfist Haptlst church' uf this city, it marked the end of a period, which was set by the church for the reaching of certain goals. Last Octo ber jKkv. K. K. lAach suggested that the church at Us annual business meeting adopt some goals toward, which they would work as a church. The goals set were the obtaining of 75 new members to the church by Eas ter; BO new scholars in the Sunday school, and 60 at the prayer meeting, also a new church building erected within three years. Kuster showed that the church had gone "over the tup" in ull three of Its goals, ns the records showed 83 nddU tions to tho church; 08 new scholars In tho Sunday school, and 77 at one of tho prayer meetings. Seven mem bers were added to the church last week, and 17 new scholars united with the Sunday school in tho past two Sundays. Wednesday evening the prayer meeting and monthly siclal following the same was given over to a service in which attention wuh di rected to this encouraging feature in the work. Mrs. Mears gave an Interesting talk on "The Effect Reaching the Goals ilas Had on the Church"; f. K. Marsh spoke encouragingly on "The Remaining Goal the New Church Huilding"; Rev. Y R. Leach spoke on "How We Reached Our Goals." Tho church feels greatly encour aged over the results, which have co mo about following the program outlined by " Rev. Leach. Following tho meeting a mciul time was en joyed by the largo number present. A pleasing program was given as fol; Iowh: Selection by the Stewart Fam ily Orchestra; solo by Mrs. Newberry, and u seloctlon by the male quartette. Coney, transcontinental (Her who died late yesterday from Injuries received when his plane fell near Crowvllle, Lu last Friday, was shipped today to Uruns wlck, Gu., where the funeral will be held Sunday.
