It Is also cer tain that there will be a few of those elected that will not remain another year. In some instances they are leav ing to bo married. There were no increases In salaries granted, because of the lurge in creases given last year and the close financial situation of the district at the present time, but the board hope that by another year, they will be able to give a satisfactory increase. Dressier, a member of the city council presented the advantages of the Pacific and Eastern tract. This tract however, has no large trees on it and the only camping ground avail able for the present season would be the present old camp ground back of the Nat. This property can be bought for $20,000 and consists of 1!) acres. Miss Phipps spoke in favor of the Phipps property on North Iliverslde with a frontage of some seven hundred feet on the highway and a block of eight lots running from Hlvorsido on the North of Jackson street ucross Hear creek to the Pacific and Eastern tracks. On this property are a large number of beautiful oak trees, and on the home place there is a good eight room house with modern conveni ences. I'his house Is all ready for im mediate use and there are a dozen or more large oak and other shade trees on the ground, a fine lawn with roses and shrubbery of different kinds. This property has a large frontage on Riverside where the tourist could enter the grounds direct from the highway and it is ready to be used as a park without much, if any expense. This property, said Miss Phipps, can be purchased for $l(i,000 with no cash payments and twenty years to pay for same if the city so desires. A vote svas taken as to the selection of these properties with the result of 20 for the Phipps property and 4 for the Pacific and Eastern. The ladles had previously visited the properties and are enthusiastic about llio pur chasing of the Phipps place.
